I Switched to a New Phone
Got a new phone? Here's how to get NestEgg, your wearable, and your workout sync all working again on the new device.
I Switched to a New Phone
Switching phones breaks your wearable connection — it doesn’t transfer automatically. Here’s how to get everything working again.
Step 1 — Download and Log In to NestEgg
- Install NestEgg Health from the App Store or Google Play
- Open the app and tap Log in (not Sign up — your account already exists)
- Log in using the same method you used originally:
- Sign in with Apple
- Sign in with Google
- Sign in with Microsoft
- Or enter your email and password
Your account, workouts, score, and profile are all stored in the cloud — they’ll be there when you log back in.
Step 2 — Reconnect Your Wearable
The wearable connection doesn’t transfer from your old phone. You need to reconnect on the new device.
iOS (Apple Health)
- In NestEgg → Settings → Wearable Settings
- Tap Connect to Apple Health
- When the Apple Health permission screen appears, tap Turn On All, then Allow
- Open your wearable’s companion app on the new phone
- Sign in if prompted (Garmin Connect, WHOOP, Zepp, etc. all require login on a new device)
- Reconnect the companion app to Apple Health — follow the steps in your device-specific guide
Android (Health Connect)
- Ensure Health Connect is installed (built into Android 14+, or available from Google Play)
- In NestEgg → Settings → Wearable Settings
- Tap Connect to Health Connect
- Grant all permissions including background access
- Sign in to your wearable’s companion app on the new phone
- Reconnect to Health Connect — follow the steps in your device-specific guide
Fitbit (iOS and Android)
Fitbit uses a direct OAuth connection — the session is tied to your old phone.
- In NestEgg → Settings → Wearable Settings
- Disconnect Fitbit
- Tap Connect to Fitbit
- Sign in with your Fitbit account and grant permissions again
Step 3 — Verify the Connection
Run the test workout method to confirm everything is working:
- Start a 1-minute workout on your wearable
- Let it sync to your companion app
- Wait 3 minutes
- Open NestEgg → Workouts and pull to refresh
If the test workout appears, you’re fully set up. If not, see My Wearable Won’t Connect.
Transferring From iPhone to iPhone
If you restored your new iPhone from an iCloud backup, NestEgg may restore automatically. However, Apple Health permissions don’t transfer with backups — you’ll still need to reconnect NestEgg to Apple Health (Step 2 above).
Common Questions
Will I lose my workout history or score? No. All data is stored in the cloud. Logging in on a new device gives you full access to your existing account.
My companion app (Garmin, WHOOP, etc.) is already installed on the new phone. Do I still need to reconnect? Yes. Even if the companion app is installed, the Apple Health or Health Connect permissions need to be re-granted on the new device — they’re phone-specific.
I set up a new Fitbit account by mistake. How do I fix it? In NestEgg → Settings → Wearable Settings, disconnect Fitbit and reconnect using your original Fitbit account credentials (not the new one). Your Fitbit workout history is tied to your original account.
