Fitbit on Android

Fitbit now syncs through Health Connect. The Fitbit app is now called Google Health. Google Health shares your workouts with Health Connect, and NestEgg reads them from there. If you previously connected Fitbit to NestEgg by signing in, follow the steps below to set it up the new way.

Step 1 of 4 — Open Auto-Upload in NestEgg

Before connecting your wearable, navigate to the auto-upload screen in the NestEgg app.

1. Open the NestEgg app.
2. Tap your profile icon (top right).
3. Tap Settings (top right).
4. Select Workout Submission.
5. Select Auto-Upload.
6. Choose Fitbit from the supported devices list.

Step 2 of 4 — Connect NestEgg to Health Connect

This allows Health Connect to share the data we use in NestEgg to score your workouts.

1. Tap Connect to Health Connect in the NestEgg app.
2. When the Health Connect permission screen appears, select Turn On All.
3. Check that all toggles are blue (ON) — Heart Rate, Activity & Exercise, and Steps.
4. Tap Allow.

Step 3 of 4 — Connect Google Health to Health Connect

This lets Google Health share your workout and heart-rate data safely with Health Connect.

1. Open the Google Health app on your phone (formerly Fitbit).
2. Tap Connections, then Apps and services.
3. Under Add connections, tap Health Connect.
4. Tap Allow all, then Allow.
5. Back in NestEgg, tap Continue.

Step 4 of 4 — Make Sure Everything’s Connected Correctly

1. Open Health Connect on your phone.
2. Go to App permissions.
3. Select Google Health — confirm sharing is turned ON.
4. Return to App permissions.
5. Select NestEgg Health — confirm sharing is turned ON.
6. Back in NestEgg, tap Looks good! (or Show troubleshooting if something isn’t right).

You’re all set. Workouts tracked in Google Health will be uploaded automatically to NestEgg.

Troubleshooting

Fitbit workouts aren’t showing in NestEgg.

1. Open the Google Health app and make sure you have at least one recent workout.
2. On the Google Health home screen, pull down to refresh and force a sync.
3. In Health Connect → App permissions → Google Health, confirm Workouts and Heart Rate are ON.
4. In Health Connect → App permissions → NestEgg Health, confirm Workouts, Heart Rate, and Steps are ON.
5. In NestEgg Health, open Workouts and pull down to refresh.
6. Wait about a minute — Health Connect sometimes takes a moment to sync.
7. Still stuck? Restart your phone — this clears background sync issues.

Once Google Health and NestEgg both have sharing enabled, your workouts will appear automatically. You’re good to go.

Why NestEgg Needs Access to Health Connect

NestEgg securely uses your workout duration, type, heart-rate, and step data from Health Connect to calculate your personalized Exercise Score. This ensures every participant, beginner or advanced, competes on a level playing field.

Access allows NestEgg to:

• Track your activity and progress toward weekly goals
• Fairly measure your effort in community challenges

Your data is used only for scoring and progress tracking, and is never shared with third parties.
