I Have Duplicate Workouts
The same workout appearing twice in NestEgg. Here's why it happens, how to identify the duplicate, and how to prevent it.
I Have Duplicate Workouts
Two workouts in NestEgg for the same session means the same data arrived twice. There are two common causes.
Cause 1 — Two Devices Both Syncing to Apple Health (iOS)
If you have more than one wearable — for example, a Garmin watch and an Oura ring — and both are connected to Apple Health, the same workout can be written to Apple Health twice. NestEgg reads both and creates two entries.
How to identify this: Both duplicate workouts will show the same date and similar (but not identical) duration or HR values, from two different source apps.
Fix:
- Open Apple Health → Sharing → Apps
- Identify which wearable apps have sharing turned ON
- Turn off sharing for all except your primary workout device — the one you wear during exercise sessions
- The Oura Ring, for example, is excellent for sleep and recovery tracking but shouldn’t be writing exercise data to Apple Health if you also wear a Garmin
Going forward, only one device should send workout data to Apple Health. This prevents future duplicates and also resolves the Garmin HR data loss issue (see My Heart Rate Data Looks Wrong).
Cause 2 — Auto-Upload AND Manual Photo-Upload of the Same Workout
If your wearable auto-synced a workout to NestEgg, and you also manually photo-uploaded the same session, you’ll have two entries.
How to identify this: Both workouts have the same date and very similar duration and HR values. One may be labelled differently (e.g. “Running” from auto-upload vs “Run” from photo-upload).
Fix: Delete the duplicate — see below.
How to Delete a Duplicate
- Open Workouts → My Workouts
- Find the duplicate workouts (same date, similar values)
- Tap the workout you want to remove
- Tap the delete option (trash icon or swipe to delete, depending on your app version)
- Confirm deletion
Which one to keep? Keep the auto-uploaded version if available — it has more accurate data pulled directly from your wearable. Delete the manual photo-upload if you added one by mistake.
Prevention
| Scenario | Prevention |
|---|---|
| Multiple devices on iOS | Only one wearable app syncing to Apple Health at a time |
| Multiple devices on Android | Only one wearable app connected to Health Connect at a time |
| Already auto-uploading | Don’t also photo-upload the same workout |
| Wearable sync was delayed | Wait a few minutes before concluding a workout is missing — don’t photo-upload as backup unless you’ve confirmed it didn’t sync |
Common Questions
Will having a duplicate affect my score? Yes — both workouts count toward your Exercise Points. Deleting the duplicate will reduce your EP accordingly. If the duplicate has already been counted in a completed scoring period, the adjustment applies immediately.
I deleted the wrong one. Can I get it back? Deleted workouts can’t be recovered from the app. If the workout was auto-uploaded, it may still exist in your wearable app — you can re-upload it via photo-upload. Contact support if you need help.
Both workouts have the same data — does it matter which I delete? No — if both contain identical data, delete either one.
