How Long Is a Challenge and How Are Weeks Counted?
A NestEgg challenge runs for 4 weeks across 4 scoring periods. Here's the structure, when periods reset, and what happens at the end.
Challenge Structure and Scoring Periods
Challenge Length
A standard NestEgg challenge runs for 4 weeks — four consecutive scoring periods.
Your challenge organizer sets the exact start and end dates. You can see these on the challenge card in the app: the challenge name, start date, end date, and duration.
Scoring Periods (Weeks)
Each week of the challenge is called a scoring period (or “Period”). Periods are numbered 1 through 4.
| Period | What happens |
|---|---|
| Period 1 | Challenge begins — all Eggs start fresh at their opening level |
| Period 2 | First round of level promotions/demotions take effect |
| Period 3 | Levels adjust again based on Period 2 performance |
| Period 4 | Final week — no level changes after this period |
When Does a Period Reset?
Scoring periods reset at the start of each week, typically Monday. Your Level Score resets to 0% and the weekly leaderboard starts fresh.
Any EP you earned in the previous period is locked in — it counts toward your overall challenge total and the overall leaderboard.
What Counts Toward Your Score
Every workout you upload within a scoring period counts toward that period’s Level Score. Workouts uploaded after a period ends do not count retroactively for that period.
If you complete a workout on Sunday evening, upload it before midnight — don’t leave it until Monday, or it counts toward the next period.
End of Challenge
When Period 4 ends:
- Final Nest and individual rankings are calculated
- The end-of-challenge screen appears on your Home tab with your highlights carousel
- 13 highlight cards cover your individual stats: total EP, best week, longest streak, top workout, Nest rank, challenge rank, and more
- Shareable achievement images are generated for your best moments
Your overall challenge leaderboard rank is based on cumulative Level Scores across all 4 periods.
The Countdown Timer
Your Home dashboard shows a countdown to:
- Challenge start — if the challenge hasn’t begun yet
- Period end — during an active challenge (days remaining in current period)
- Challenge end — in the final period
Common Questions
I missed Period 1 entirely. Can I still compete? Yes — join as soon as you can. You’ll score 0% for any periods you weren’t active, which will affect your overall challenge rank, but you can still contribute to your Nest from the period you join.
Do periods always start on Monday? The period schedule is set when the challenge is configured. Most challenges align to calendar weeks (Monday–Sunday), but check your challenge start date — if it started on a Wednesday, periods reset on Wednesdays.
What if a week has a public holiday? The scoring period doesn’t pause for holidays. The clock runs from the start date regardless. If you need time off, use a Health Pause.
I can see Period 2 data but I’m still on Period 1. Is that a bug? This can happen briefly at the period boundary while the app syncs. Pull down to refresh on your Home screen. If it persists, contact support.
