How Levels Work — Promotion and Demotion
NestEgg has 15 levels across 5 classes. Your level sets your weekly target. Here's exactly how promotion and demotion work — and why they happen.
How Levels Work
Your level determines your weekly Exercise Points target. Hit it and you score 100%. Crush it and you might get promoted. Miss it badly and you may drop. Here’s how it all works.
The 15-Level Table
NestEgg has 15 levels across 5 classes. You’re assigned a starting level during onboarding based on your self-reported activity.
| Level | Class | Weekly EP Target |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Beginner | 150 EP |
| 2 | Beginner | 200 EP |
| 3 | Beginner | 250 EP |
| 4 | Intermediate | 300 EP |
| 5 | Intermediate | 400 EP |
| 6 | Intermediate | 500 EP |
| 7 | Advanced | 600 EP |
| 8 | Advanced | 750 EP |
| 9 | Advanced | 900 EP |
| 10 | Professional | 1,100 EP |
| 11 | Professional | 1,400 EP |
| 12 | Professional | 1,700 EP |
| 13 | Elite | 2,100 EP |
| 14 | Elite | 2,600 EP |
| 15 | Elite | 3,300 EP |
Level 4 (300 EP) aligns with global health guidelines — roughly 150 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous exercise plus strength training per week.
How Promotion Works
You’re promoted when you earn enough EP to meet a higher level’s target.
- Your current level’s target is 400 EP (Level 5)
- You earn 600 EP this week
- 600 EP meets Level 7’s target (600 EP)
- You are promoted to Level 7
You skip directly to whichever level matches what you actually earned — not just one level at a time. Strong weeks are rewarded with meaningful promotions.
Promotions take effect at the start of the following week. Your target and weekly scoring adjust from then.
How Demotion Works
You’re demoted one level if you score below 50% of your weekly target.
- Your target is 400 EP (Level 5)
- You earn 180 EP — that’s 45% of target
- You drop to Level 4 (300 EP target)
Demotion is designed to be forgiving — you have to miss by a wide margin for it to trigger. A tough week at 60% or 70% is fine; the system only reacts to a significant drop.
Demotions also take effect at the start of the following week.
Level Changes Between Weeks Only
Your level never changes mid-week. If you have a breakthrough session on a Wednesday, you keep your current target for the rest of that week. The promotion applies from Monday.
There are also no retroactive recalculations — whatever you scored this week at your current level stands, regardless of what level you move to next week.
Your Level Score Always Goes Up
Within a week, your Level Score only ever increases. Every workout adds EP, and EP only ever adds to your running total. There’s no penalty for posting a “bad” workout — any workout above zero improves your Level Score.
Common Questions
I was promoted but my target went up a lot. Is that normal? Yes — promotion can skip multiple levels if you significantly exceeded your previous target. Your new target reflects what you actually demonstrated you could do.
I dropped a level this week. Does that affect my past scores? No. Your Level Score for the week where you dropped is final. The new lower target only applies from next week forward.
I’m at Level 1. Can I be demoted further? No — Level 1 is the floor. You can score below 50% at Level 1 without any level consequence.
Can I choose to stay at my current level even if I’d be promoted? No — the levelling system is automatic. If you hit the promotion threshold, you move up. The system is designed to keep competition fair across the Flock.
What if I’m new and started at the wrong level? The system self-corrects quickly — usually within 1–2 weeks. If you started too high, a low week triggers demotion. If you started too low, a strong week triggers promotion. You’ll find your natural level fast.
