Getting Started

What is NestEgg?

A quick overview of how NestEgg works — the challenge format, your Nest, Exercise Points, and why it all matters.

The short version

NestEgg is a team-based exercise program run through your workplace. You join a Nest of 5 people, wear a fitness tracker, and compete together in a 4-week Challenge. Your effort is scored relative to your own fitness level — so a beginner and an elite athlete can compete fairly in the same Challenge.

No prescribed workouts. No gym memberships required. Walk, run, swim, lift, cycle — whatever you do, your wearable tracks it, and NestEgg scores it using your heart rate data.

How it works

  1. Join or create a Nest — a team of 5 Eggs (that’s you). You can join an existing Nest or start your own.
  2. Set your Level — during onboarding, you answer a short questionnaire about how active you are. NestEgg places you at a Level with a weekly Exercise Points (EP) target that matches your current fitness.
  3. Move your way — any exercise, any time, any place. Your wearable device records your workouts and syncs them to the NestEgg app.
  4. Earn Exercise Points — every workout is scored using the formula: Duration × Intensity. Intensity is calculated from your heart rate, not your activity type. Strength training gets a +25% bonus.
  5. Hit your weekly target — your Level Score is the percentage of your weekly EP target you’ve achieved. Hit 100% and you’ve had a solid week.
  6. Help your Nest compete — your Nest Score is the average of all 5 Level Scores. The leaderboard ranks Nests by their cumulative Nest Score across all 4 weeks.

Why it’s fair

NestEgg uses a 15-Level handicap system. Each Level has a different weekly EP target — Level 1 targets 150 EP per week, while Level 15 targets 3,300 EP. Your Level Score is calculated as a percentage of your target, not an absolute number.

This means a Level 1 Egg earning 180 EP scores 120%, while a Level 12 Egg earning 1,600 EP scores 94%. The beginner beats the elite athlete. That’s not a bug — that’s the design.

Social Gravity

Most programs push people to exercise. NestEgg is designed to pull you in.

When effort is visible, shared, and fair — doing something becomes easier than doing nothing. Your Nest creates gentle accountability. No pressure, but your Nest Score moves when you show up. And that’s enough.

Four things make it work:

  • Micro-community — just 5 people. You’re more likely to move for others than for yourself.
  • Belonging — you’re part of something from day one. Everyone is equal. No Egg Left Behind.
  • Gentle accountability — your Nest Score reflects your effort. No lectures. Just visible contribution.
  • Social reward — banter, ProofShots, team milestones. The texture that makes people come back.

What you need

  • The NestEgg app (iOS or Android)
  • A compatible wearable device (Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, WHOOP, Polar, Oura, Suunto, Xiaomi, or Amazfit)
  • A willingness to move — even a little

No Egg Left Behind. NestEgg rewards consistency over heroics, effort over genetics, and team success over individual dominance. Every workout helps your Nest. Every rep counts.
